Kent is married to Leila and they have two daughters. Kent has a BA in Mathematics from Purdue University as well as an M.S. in Computer Science from Purdue. He is a Language Software Consultant for SIL Africa Area in Nairobi, Kenya where he provides training and consultant help in language software. He is also a Software Developer for SIL Africa Area in Nairobi, Kenya. He develops and maintains software to help linguists to do phonological analysis and help literacy workers to develop basic primers.
