My name is Oliver Stegen, I'm married to Dorothea and our children are
Tabita (*1996), Miriam (*1998) and Silas (*2001). After schooling and
initial studies in my native Germany, I completed an M.A. in linguistics at
the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1993. I'm a linguistics consultant
with SIL Uganda-Tanzania, focusing so far mostly on language projects in
Northern Tanzania where my family lived among the Rangi language community
for ten years. Since 2007, we have been based out of Nairobi. At GTA, I gave
the introductions to general linguistics, phonetics, phonology and
sociolinguistics.
